Ban Vegemite?

 

Why?

 

There are rumours that this acclaimed Aussie staple delicacy has come under threat from US Customs Officers who are reported to have been searching visitors from Australia and New Zealand in case they are importing the product.

The US Food & Drug Administration has reportedly become concerned about imports of Vegemite due to the addition of folate, a water-soluble B  Vitamin. The additive itself is not to blame, but it is possible that some people may ingest large quantities that could mask a dangerous Vitamin B12 deficiency, particularly in the elderly.

 

However, The US Government has denied that Vegemite will be banned.

 

Aussies in America can relax.
